Barry O’Callaghan   Executive Chairman & Chief Executive Officer

Barry O’Callaghan is Chairman, CEO and controlling shareholder of Riverdeep Holdings PLC. He has served as CEO of Riverdeep since 1999.

Under Mr O’ Callaghan’s stewardship, Riverdeep has become the leading global publisher of interactive products for the education industry with major operations in the United States, Ireland, UK, China and the Middle East. Mr O Callaghan took the company public on the Nasdaq and Irish Stock Exchanges in 2000, raising $150m for the Company and achieving a market capitalisation of $2 billion on its debut.

Mr O'Callaghan managed the subsequent acquisition and integration of seven leading educational companies including Edmark, The Learning Company and Broderbund with a total acquisition value of over $300m. In 2002 Mr O Callaghan's LBO vehicle, Hertal Acquisitions plc, acquired the assets of Riverdeep for $400m. Since going private, the Company has successfully completed a €300m high yield offering on the Luxembourg Stock Exchange and a $200m dividend recapitalisation. In a $100m share transaction in early 2006, Mr O'Callaghan became the majority and controlling shareholder of Riverdeep.

Prior to Riverdeep, Mr O'Callaghan was an international investment banker for nine years working in London, New York and Hong Kong initially with Morgan Stanley and latterly Credit Suisse. Mr O'Callaghan is a law graduate of Trinity College Dublin.

Jim Ruddy Chief Revenue Officer

Jim Ruddy is Chief Revenue Officer at Riverdeep with responsibility for all major revenue producing divisions within the company.

Mr. Ruddy joined Riverdeep in November 1999 as Director of Business Development to lead the identification and implementation of new business opportunities to increase the company’s product sales, market share and profitability. He was subsequently promoted to Vice President, Business Development in 2001. Mr. Ruddy served as part of the successful merger and acquisition team which helped to drive the company's growth through strategic acquisition and partnerships since 1999.

In the fall of 2002 Mr. Ruddy was appointed to the role of Senior Vice President, School Sales with responsibility for all educational assets sold to schools in the U.S. inclusive of core curriculum and supplemental software. In mid 2005 he was appointed to the position of Chief Revenue Officer.

Prior to joining Riverdeep, Mr. Ruddy was with Allied Irish Bank in Ireland where he had ten years extensive record of experience in corporate and commercial lending and relationship banking.P>

Tony Mulderry   Executive Vice President, Corporate Development

Tony Mulderry is responsible for all corporate development initiatives at Riverdeep where he has lead multiple complex transactions including several acquisitions, a take private transaction, debt refinancing and other investor initiatives. Mr. Mulderry joined Riverdeep's Corporate Development team in April 2001. He has significant experience in both the entertainment and consumer product marketing industries with a proven record of consistently growing sales and profitability and driving a broad set of deals.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Mulderry was with PepsiCo, Inc. in New York, Dublin and London where he served in various marketing roles of increasing responsibility over his seven year tenure there. As Director, International Marketing based in New York, he had responsibility for the strategic and creative development of the Pepsi brand around the globe. He ensured best practice in marketing activities and was responsible for investment and business development opportunities in emerging international markets. Prior to joining Riverdeep, Mr. Mulderry launched a successful start-up sport marketing business.

Mr. Mulderry holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from University College Galway and is a Graduate of the Young Managers Programme at Insead.

Ciara Smyth – Executive Vice President, Global Business Operations

Ciara Smyth is Executive Vice President at Riverdeep with primary responsibility for leading all aspects of the company's global human resource function. Ms. Smyth joined Riverdeep in July 1999 to establish a US workforce.  Ms. Smyth acted as a senior member of the group’s M&A team during the period 1999-2003. In the course of those years, Riverdeep experienced significant growth, acquiring seven companies and several hundred employees. Ms. Smyth has led the integration efforts of the acquired entities over the past four years.

Ms Smyth holds several other responsibilities beyond Human Resources which include global operational, strategic and fiscal responsibility of the group’s information technology function, management of the group’s property portfolio and executive responsibility for the group’s Direct to Consumer (DTC) channel which provides consumers with access to purchase and download Riverdeep’s award winning products via www.broderbund.com and www.thelearningcompany.com.

Prior to joining Riverdeep Ms. Smyth was employed by McDougal Littell the middle and high school division of Houghton Mifflin Company in Boston from 1996-1999. Ms. Smyth holds a B.A. from University College Dublin and a Masters Degree from University of Essex, School of Comparative Studies, in the United Kingdom.

Fiona O’Carroll  Executive Vice President, Marketing and Development

Fiona O’ Carroll is Executive Vice President, Marketing and Development with responsibility for all aspects of the company’s marketing and product development functions across all channels. Ms. O’Carroll has a proven track record of success in product development, marketing and operational roles within the international software industry.

Ms. O’ Carroll joined Riverdeep in October 2002. She has extensive experience in the educational software market and has worked with brands such as Knowledge Adventure, Math Blaster and ADi. Prior to joining Riverdeep, Ms O’Carroll enjoyed similar success managing a global product development center for Vivendi Universal. Ms. O’ Carroll is a graduate of Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland where she received a Masters in Management Practice and a BSc in Marketing.

Garrett Power  Chief Financial Officer

Garrett Power is Chief Financial Officer at Riverdeep with responsibility for overseeing all finance functions including planning, internal and external reporting, tax, treasury, accounting and all legal relationships.

In addition to his role as Chief Financial Officer, Mr. Power is responsible for the Purchasing and Operations functions of Riverdeep and for OEM and Consumer Business Development. Mr. Power joined the Riverdeep Group in April 2004 as Vice President, Corporate Finance and was subsequently promoted to Chief Financial Officer in early 2006.

Prior to joining Riverdeep, Mr. Power worked as Director, Transaction Services for KPMG in Ireland and London from 1998 where he advised a number of clients in cross-border merger and acquisition opportunities, private equity, re-financings and the structuring of such deals. Mr. Power is a Chartered Accountant (Ireland) since 1996.

Gail Pierson – Chief Education Officer

Gail Elizabeth Pierson is currently serving as the Chief Education Officer. She joined the Riverdeep Group in July 1999 as Chief Operating Officer following the acquisition of Logal Software, and served as President and Chief Operating Officer from November 1999 to September 2001, and President, Product Development and Operations from October 2001 to her recent appointment as the Chief Education Officer. She also served as an Independent Director and on the Riverdeep Board from November of 2001 through April 2003. Ms. Pierson has over 20 years of experience in senior managment, specializing in education and publishing operations. She served consecutively as chief operating officer for The Christian Science Monitor and president of J-Net Consulting before joining Riverdeep.

Joseph Small Director of Eastern Sales

Joseph Small joined Riverdeep in April 2006. Mr. Small came to Riverdeep from Pearson Education where he served as Vice President of Strategic Sales and Alliances for the K-12 Schools Group. In that role, Mr. Small worked with several Pearson K-12 business units (textbooks; assessment; digital learning; and professional development) coordinating cross-company custom solutions for some of the largest public school districts in the U.S.

In the 1990s Mr. Small served with Pearson Digital Learning (formerly Computer Curriculum Corp/CCC) as Vice President and General Manager of the Southeast Region. In this role, he helped develop and guide some of the largest instructional technology initiatives in the U.S. including projects in Palm Beach County, Broward County and Miami-Dade County Schools, Florida.

Mr. Small began his education technology career in 1975 for Control Data Corporation, one of the early pioneers of computer-based training and education systems. Mr. Small was assigned to Control Data’s Government Systems Division in Washington, D.C., where he helped develop customized technology-based education and training solutions to several federal agencies including the Department of Defense. In 1982 he transferred to Control Data’s K-12 and Higher Education Division, and guided the development of technology-based education intervention programs for colleges, universities and large urban districts along the east coast.

Mr. Small is a graduate of Providence College. He has also done post-graduate work at Antioch School of Law in Washington, D.C.

Craig Greenwood Director of Western Sales

Craig Greenwood joined Riverdeep in March 2006. Mr. Greenwood has 25 years of education technology sales and marketing experience. His expertise in sales strategy, channel strategy and sales team development is based upon his successful track record at companies such as Riverside Publishing/Edusoft, Apex Learning, PowerSchool and Apple Computer. Mr. Greenwood’s education technology experience includes enterprise wide technology initiatives, student information systems architecture, assessment systems and district/classroom level instructional technology projects. At Apple Computer, Mr. Greenwood was a regional leader in the development and implementation of education channel programs.

Most recently Mr. Greenwood was Vice President - Sales for Edusoft, which grew from its early success in California to a national leader in the formative assessment market. The company was acquired by Houghton Mifflin and Mr. Greenwood led the effort to integrate the Edusoft sales team within Riverside Publishing.

Mr. Greenwood earned his masters of business administration and bachelor's degrees from Appalachian State University. He is involved in numerous education organizations and has served on the board of the Georgia Academic Decathlon, the Georgia Partnership for Excellence in Education, and the Professional Association of Georgia Educators Foundation.
