A comprehensive, research-based literacy program enables every child to succeed... right from the start! Destination Reading Course I was developed with guidance from some of the nation's leading reading experts, to effectively guide students from pre-kindergarten to 1st grade through the essential steps to becoming successful readers. Grounded in the most current scientific research on early literacy, it uses a carefully structured whole/part/whole approach to reading instruction. Learners are explicitly taught phonics, decoding, and comprehension skills in the context of a wide range of authentic fiction, nonfiction, and environmental text. Destination Reading provides careful sequencing of reading and writing skill development so that each new skill builds upon prior skill learning, ensuring that "no child is left behind" in the learning process.
Destination Reading is aligned with state and national curriculum standards seems to be the more common terminology and fully conforms to today's research-focused funding requirements. Teachers can use it in the classroom as the centerpiece of a flexible reading program or as the electronic component of a traditional basal.
