In each lesson, students learn a new sight word, practice sight recognition, reinforce that recognition, and associate the word with its meaning through illustrations. Each vocabulary word is presented in a variety of formats: uppercase, uppercase and lowercase, and all in lowercase. Each new word is then presented with excellent illustrations to ensure word comprehension.

Short steps and multiple repetitions—methods that have brought success to so many students—are used throughout the program. Reproducible worksheets reinforce learning with activities such as writing, identifying, circling, matching, and using a word in context.
