The Microsoft Settlement
A substantial amount of funding for educational hardware and software is now available for eligible schools from the settlement of the multi-state Microsoft consumer class action lawsuit over unfair business practices.
In the California Settlement, the state received $1.1 billion for consumers and schools. Consumers had the first opportunity to claim vouchers for reimbursement. California schools will receive two-thirds (66.66%) of the funds remaining after the consumer claim period through district applications. The other third reverts to Microsoft.
Reimbursements are being processed now!
The California Department of Education (CDE) provides a Web site with the most current information for districts.
Visit the California DOE voucher site at http://www.cde.ca.gov/ls/et/st/etv.asp for application instructions, voucher redemption information, and FAQs. The application is available to eligible districts at http://www.cde.ca.gov/fg/fo/r5/etv06rfa.asp.
Purpose of the Voucher Program
The vouchers are intended to assist districts with implementing and supporting education technology that fosters effective teaching and promotes student achievement in eligible schools that serve students in kindergarten through twelfth grade.

Purchase Approval—Important Information!
Each district must have its purchases approved by the Settlement Claims Administrator (SCA) prior to submission for guaranteed reimbursement!
The SCA will provide a unique confirmation number for the communication. That number should be included in the voucher redemption documentation you submit. Here is the SCA contact information:
